“Booming Housing Market Calls for Stringent Safeguards”
(Calgary Houses For Sale)- With the Canadian real estate market relatively sheltered from the American collapse of 2008, critics of safe and affordable housing are raising the alarm about a scary new trend with Calgary houses for sale. Dana Rejkovic, President of the SAEHA (safe, affordable, and equitable housing association) says Calgary houses for sale are becoming more and more difficult to afford for single parent and immigrant households. “We all know this city is an expensive one to live in, and in Calgary houses for sale are increasingly drifting out of reach for the neediest of people”. This view has increasingly been shared by proponents of Rejkovic’s SAEHA, most notably Prof. Ingrid Nettlebon of The University of Calgary’s women and gender studies, who most recently released a report on the situation. “Calgary houses for sale are being inflated due to the fact vacancies in the city are at record lows. With no affordable alternatives and nowhere to turn, the ones being shown the shaft are unfortunately those who have the most to lose.” However, those who support the free market capitalist ideology are not seeing eye to eye about Calgary houses for sale. “No way can we become over socialist with such a touchy and delicate balance, we’ve all seen the chaos down South and the last thing we need is a step in that direction” says Edward Van der Sloot of TD Investments. Whichever the case, the next few years will be telling. With two election cycles before the expiration of the current tax system, we may soon see this become a hotly debated topic.
